I've been collecting digi kits and elements for about 3 years. I have them sorted by store. I've noticed that half the designers either have their own store or have moved stores now, so that method is pointless.
The other part that is not helpful is that when I'm looking for a particular look, say "office supply" style... I have to rely on my terrible memory to remember where I purchased it.
I have a zillion kit and elements and wondered about getting ACDSee to organize them by keyword, but it will take me months to get them all tagged. Should I bite the bullet and do it, or what? I wish I had gotten a program for this in the very beginning.
Are there any other programs you would recommend - that's the only one I ever seem hear about.
It is never too late! I highly recommend doing it now! You will feel like you just came home with hundreds of new kits because after organizing you can view your supplies not only by designer and kit but also by color, embellishment, pattern, etc. It will bring an entirely new view on your supplies and you will be using stuff together that you never thought you would use!
Also, I recommend working on it in 15 minute increments - that way you can't get overwhelmed and you just go piece by piece - in the end it will be so worth it! :)
Oh had I feeling you say that :)
Your right - it would just be so nice to get more use of kits I forgot I even had and added plus of typing in 'staple' and seeing all my options would be so great.
15 minutes a day... I can do that. That's how I handled a huge 'too file' pile in my office last year, and before I knew it - my stack was gone.
I have bridge (which I still don't get) iphoto and picasa.
I saw the special on ACDSEE. I had a very hard time organizing my digital stuff in iphoto. I downloaded ibuddy but couldn't figure out how to use it. So...I read about picasa and that was simple to use and free. However, I don't mind investing in ACDSEE if it is a program that will grow with me and has more features. I am fairly new to this but plan on sticking with it. Please advise. P.S. As a beginner digital your site is wonderful!!!! Thanks
You save you have a zillion kits...well I only have several hundred, but since almost all are still unzipped & I did buy ACDSee Pro 2.5, I have yet to tag. What categories/keywords for tagging that you find best in organizing all the kits? Since Im a newbie, I want to get all my info right before I dive in...Im a bit particular of diving in since I cant swim (literally) as I need to have my feet touch the bottom or else I panic so I go in just enough to feel comfortable. Thnx, Rita
I recently purchased "The Digital Scrapbook Teacher" book/material - I didn't even know I could add my kits/elements into PSP. I started out all gung-ho, trying to add a kit a day - this cut into my "creative" time more than I liked, so I slacked off, and desperately need to get back into it - but I hear everyone now talking about the ACDSee. Is it that much better than using Elements? Can someone explain the difference? Thanks!
I would also like to know the difference between tagging in Elements and ACDSee. Since I already own Elements 8, do I really need another program? I haven't started organizing my digi files yet since I'm still a newbie, so this is a good time to figure out which program to use. Thanks for your help!
