Need help with PSE 6!

I'm trying to layer/attach this tag to a photo but it just doesn't look right. Do I have to erase part of it or is there another technique to use so it doesn't look like it's just been placed on top or behind the photo?

The problem is the element itself - if it were in two layers - with the white card behind the bottom part of the tab removed it would be great because the transparency of what you are applying it to would show through - the white behind the label/tag is the issue here and there is no way to remove it...short of lots of work. I would email the designer.
