Brooke- if you go to Database| Embed Database Information, you can either select all files to embed or select files.
You can also have it set up to automatically embed metadata under Tools|Options| Database. If there is a file that cannot be embedded, it will ask you if you want it to write a "sidecar" for it.

Keep in mind, the embed feature only is available in PM 2009.
HTH! :)

Tara- ACDSee Photo Manager is a wonderful organizing tool for scrappers. It is similar to PSE/Bridge/Picasa but doesn't have some of the issues that the other do- I have heard that PSE organizer gets really slow and that Picasa doesn't have the same features that scrappers like.

ITA w/ Brooke -- I can't scrap w/o it. You can tag your scrap files, fonts, brushes and photos so that can find them with one click. You can add in details such as Kit Name and Author so you can give credit easily.
It also has some great editing features for color and exposure adjustment, red eye, crop/resize, as well as some fun adjustments - like posterize, sepia etc.

Def, check out digiscrapinfo- lots of good help there!

Chris, I have a question for you. Have you tried to embed your metadata/tagging into a file? I think I am missing a step here somewhere.

Hi Tara, I might not be the best at this but I LOVE Acdsee and truly can't imagine scrapping without it.
Just imagine finding all your buttons at a single click or all your red paper to find just the right shade for your layout. I use it to organize all my photos too. Digi Scrap is an amazing site that helps with any questions you could have. Really Acdsee is worth it's weight in gold!

It takes a bit of time to get it all organized but oh sooooo worth it!

Hi all!! I'm an organizational maniac (just ask my hubby) and have had the hardest time getting all my digi stuff organized...someone suggested ACDSee and I had never heard of it! So I'm wondering what it's all about? Can someone give me a quick rundown of it's features and capabilities? TIA...

Hi everyone! I am new to this group, but I love ACDSee PM and PE so hope no one minds if I butt in ;)

Paula-- Photo Manager makes organizing your photos and your digital scrap stash very easy. Heidi just blogged some tips on managing digital images. http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/DigitalScrapbookingInfo/~3/3Rg_3QIhUX4/

If any of you need help with organizing styles you can go to digiscrapinfo.com for help. here is a link on how to download and install different styles. http://www.digiscrapinfo.com/joomla/acdsee-photo-manager/organizing-styles
And Chi-Girl is right- you can personalize it as much or as little as you want.

One last thing- in PM 2009 you are able to embed your metadata/tagging right into the file, so if PM crashes or you want to send a file to someone else, the metadata stays intact. Very cool!

I'm just joining in here - love ACDSee (have 9 now). I wanted to respond to Paula's question - if you go to the ACDSee site (pretty sure that's where) there are amazing examples of not only how diff. people organize their files, but you can download all the categories based on which person's style of organizing you like. I did it prob. 3 years ago so don't have the link info. avail. anymore but I know it's still on a site and worth doing a little looking for. Once you choose a style of categories you like, you can always delete some, change some, and add some of your own. So find one that seems closest to which categories you'd use, then change 'em up a bit. Have fun. It's a lot of work but well worth it.

Ok, so did the 2 for one and got Acdsee 2009, I am excited about getting everything moved but it says to uninstall my version of acdsee before loading 2009. YIKES this freaks me out cause if I loose all my tags you all will hear me scream where ever you live! lol I am sure some of you have already done this so re-assure me that this is ok. PLEASE! :)

You will need to bring it into your library and then export it to DVD from ACDSee for it to retain the information...at least that is my understanding. Keep in mind I am in no way the expert on this! :) Still learning myself and happy to share whatever I know here. :)
