If all your digital files had to reside outside your computer would they look something like this? I am afraid mine could be something very similar or even worse!
So much of our lives are in digital content, computer documents, digital scrapbooking files, and digital photographs. We focus on backing up our images but truth be told if you had to go through all your backups to find an important image, could you f… Continue
Yesterday I was working on post processing some recent shots and I thought it would be fun to share a behind the scenes video here. See it in larger format here.
I need your wonderful input again. I am working on a resource page for brand new digital scrapbookers as a part of the new beginning digital education content for this site.
Quite honestly I spend so much time focused on content, education and tutorials that it has been awhil… Continue
After some wonderful feedback from many of you, we realize that we haven't made all the fun education on DigiScrap101 as accessible as it could have been. To that end I put together a handy Tutorial Guide that can be viewed by clicking on Tutorials on the menu bar and scrolling down to Tutorial Guide.
We are working hard to not only improve the quality of what we have here at Digiscrap101, but also to of… Continue
After a summer break, beginning in September, we are gearing up to do some fun new projects on the site and would love your input. The first thing we will be working on is updating and improving our Beginning Digital Scrapbooking curriculum currently found here. Some of the improvements we plan to make include:
* Brand new instructional videos with updated content.
* Written instruction to accompany the new vid… Continue
Having a little fun during summer vacation and thought I would share. Yesterday we ventured out to a local amusement park and when we arrived I realized that I had forgotten to replace the battery in my point and shoot camera from the charger - ACK!
Luckily I had my cell phone camera with me. The major challenge with cell phone cameras include: lack of selective focus, setting controls, and image quality. However, when you think that we are moving more and more to the digital instead of printed… Continue
I was reading Stacy's blog the other day and came across this:
"Smart people spend time alone. They don't fill their days with appointments from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., as many politi… Continue

One of the things I love about the growth of digital scrapbooking are all the opportunities we have for online learning of digital skills. Instead of having to travel across country to learn from the best, you can show up to your computer in your PJ's and learn on your own time.
There are many in the digital industry whose work I admire and a few that I take every opportunity to learn from. Renee Pearson is one of those people. She is a pillar of knowledge in the digital industry and I am so ex… Continue
I picked up a hint from one of Scott Kelby's recent posts and wondered if the Fade tool in PS would give me more control over the auto adjustments of images - and it does!
Now before you say anything - yes I did say in my most recent post that auto levels do remove data from your image - however, if your work flow includes backing up to DVD or external an EXTRA copy of digital negatives you are ok!

Editing your photos in Photoshop without adjustment layers can cause you to lose data and quality in your image. In this video we will show you how to use adjustment layers with levels to develop your images and also retain the image quality.

Hope you enjoy the how-to's behind my digital letterpress drawer. Due to time constraints this is probably one of my most informal tutorials ever. Just grab a cold drink, sit down, and pretend you are sitting next to me at my desk as I share with you the steps to making a letter… Continue
I must start this post with an apology: I have been a bit lax around here lately. Technically this post was going to be the complete how-to behind my little letterpress drawers (i took a digital spin on this one). However, it is a post that is half done...which, considering my cu… Continue
The other day I finally got PSE for Mac. I was fine tuning it and wondered how to get the document to fill the frame so my desktop wouldn't show through. So I went to my favorite place for information: Google!
I Googled my question and watched as the page came up and there my answer was...the top of the page - on Digiscrap101! I clicked to find lots of helpful advice from community members and the critical answer from… Continue
