From what I know about art and advertising. I was always told me that people look at the brightest color in a picture first ( if there is a little red on a background of Gray, white, Yellow on your LO then you will look at the red first) ... So let say your focal point of your lay out is a beautiful picture of a sunset... Now you want to use elements around it... Just see where you eye goes next...
If you want to tell a story on your page make the elements from Big to Small, top to botom, brightest to lightest.... and you will notice where you eye goes first... If you want a suttle page then you can put as many elements as you want just make them lighter then the rest of your page so they are not popping out at you.. Because then it will take away from the focal point....
Some people (like me) love to put a few pictures in one corner of a page.... That is where I want you and everyone else to look... If my Album is open, on the left page it would be on the bottom or top left corner and if it was the right page it would be on the bottom or top right corner... That is where I would want your eye to go...
If I wanted your eyes all over the page I would place elements, pictures and color all over... But sometime that is a little confusing.
In the LO's below you will see what I mean. This is my very best friend baby boys first picture with Santa.... Im sorry the pictures are so big... Not sure how to make them smaller for the web... I know theres a tutorial on it... I will have to look at it for next time... Hope this helps with Cluster, Layers, and focal Points.
